The syrup

In this recipe

Orgeat (Almond Syrup)¾ oz22 ml

Orgeat is a creamy almond syrup flavored with orange blossom water, best known from the Mai Tai.

Our 1:1 orgeat matches the 3/4 oz spec; if you make a rich 2:1 orgeat, drop to 1/2 oz (as Dutch Kills does).

As printed: orgeat

Where it comes from

A gin sour sweetened with orgeat that dates to at least the mid-1930s; its first full recipes appear in 1945 and in David Embury's 1948 The Fine Art of Mixing Drinks, where Embury printed the sweet original and then argued for a much drier version.
