The syrup

In this recipe

Falernum Syrup (Non-Alcoholic)½ oz15 ml

Falernum is a Caribbean lime, ginger, clove and almond syrup used in tiki drinks.

Use our falernum syrup 1:1. Gaige even allowed plain sugar syrup here, so a syrup falernum fits the original; trim slightly if you want it drier.

As printed: falernum (Gaige: 'falernum or sugar syrup'; modern specs use Velvet Falernum)

Where it comes from

A Daiquiri cousin sweetened with falernum, first printed in Crosby Gaige's 1941 cocktail guide by a contributor who said she drank it in Hamilton, Bermuda. Trader Vic included it in his 1947 Bartender's Guide, which is why it is often credited to him.
